Being curious is sometimes very good. While learning German, we decided to accept a new challenge and read a book in German. We wanted to see if we could manage reading in a foreign language. Actually, being on the level B1-B2 was in this case enough. We could follow what the book is about.

However, we bought this book online. It’s name is: Die kleine Bäckerei am Strandweg, which could be translated as: Little Beach Street Bakery. What is it about? Is the bakery an important detail in this book?

Well, everything started when Polly and her boyfriend Chris reached a point of their lives, where everything just collapsed. They owned a company which worked good for a while. They were working within IT, mostly with graphics and design and everything went well for them. However, the time changed and many things could be done without their help. They were not that needed as before. Then it happened what happened.

When everything collapsed she moved to an island where she found an apartment. She decided to rent it and then she was ready for a new life. Who did she meet in her new city on the island? Who visited her from her earlier life? What gave her a new inspiration and work ideas?

From the first start she was not that alone as it maybe could sound. She got a new little friend who gave her some new strength which she really needed. In the book we can experience different moments in a person's life. That is something that each one of us can experience. It is a pretty daily life situation and we can see that the life simply has to go further on. Sometimes it is enough with some extra love.
