What methods do different companies use to fool their customers and save money? Yes, this question is correct. The companies can fool us. It can be simple situations like e.g. delayed flights, trains or buses or other traffic. Some people do not react at all, but some people can be frustrated and irritated. Especially if that is something very common in their daily life.
Let us analyze a method. This is about what happens when they are delayed. Normally the companies should give us some kind of compensation. The same should happen if we are delayed because of their delay that occurs during the trip. When you ask for the compensation, it is not sure that you can get it in every situation.

Some experiences show that it is possible to see how companies cheat with delay times. It can be some minutes. You are on that train or that bus and you know that you are coming maybe 30 minutes later than expected. You can see it on your smartphone but also on some other clock. After complaining and applying for the compensation you get an email that says that they could not see any delays. Actually, in their time table for arrivals they present something else. That is sadly a very ugly business method for saving money.
In a situation like this, we can see how small time cheating can result in successful saving. Let say that a hundred passengers apply for the compensation. That could cost pretty much. If the delay can be manipulated, then there is no such a big risk for discovering it, especially if it is about a deviation of some minutes only. Some passengers like daily commuters, can be irritated and they can appeal a decision if they are sure that the information and the decision about a delay were wrong.
It does not have to be big amounts, but every fair compensation can create a better trust between the transport companies and their passengers.
