People love drinking beer. That is a fact. If you see how many people do it, you will understand that. In this article we have chosen to take a look at some German beers. We have decided to check how big turnover their production has. Our article is about four beers which are produced on the east half of Germany. We want to emphasize that it is not the East Germany. It is just the geographically east part of the country.
We have chosen Chiemseer Hell, Münchner Hell, Bayreuther Hell and Hiddenseer Hell. All four are produced in the breweries on the east half of Germany. The breweries are: Auerbräu GmbH Rosenheim (1887), Paulaner Brewery Group (1634), Rügener Insel-Brauerei GmbH (2014) and Brauerei Gebr. Maisel KG (1887). The youngest of them is Rügener Insel-Brauerei GmbH, but what does that say about the quality and the economic turnover?
Let us start in the northern part of the country and Hiddenseer Hell. The Rügener Insel-Brauerei GmbH is in a little town called Rambin on the Rügen island. According to the Internet, their economic turnover is unknown after 2022. In 2022 it was around 6 million Euros which mean that they belong to the 10 million class.

The next one is in the town called Bayreuth which is approximately 50-100 km north from Nürnberg. Its name is Brauerei Gebr. Maisel KG and its economic turnover is around 35 million Euros. They produce Bayreuther Hell.
And the last one, with their Chiemseer Hell, is Auerbräu GmbH in the little town Rosenheim which is between Munich and Salzburg in Austria. We have not found the information about the turnover for this brewery. However Auerbräu GmbH is a part of the Paulaner Brewery Group. This group, who produces Münchener Hell, had 807,7 million Euros turnover in 2022. In year 2024 they reached 1 billion Euros turnover.
The Paulaner Brewery Group is one of the biggest breweries in Germany and the information about their turnover is not that surprising. However, the difference between the four breweries and their turnovers is very visible, but the beer taste is pretty similar or maybe even the same. The taste of Münchner Hell is maybe the most different one.
