Denpasar - the capital of Bali
Bali is Indonesia’s most well-known island, situated in the middle of the world’s largest archipelago.
The capital of this island is Denpasar. The city has arround 788.000 inhabitans and in the surrounding area there are roughly 2 million people.
It is located south of the equator, has a tropical wet and dry climate, with hot and humid weather. There is a little temperature change throughout the year. Comparing to other cities outside Indonesia with this climate, there is very little temperature change in different seasons, with average temperatures arround 28 degrees Celsius. The year is divided into two seasons: wet and dry. The wet season lasts from November to April, while the dry season lasts from May to October. The temperatures are not extreme, but the heat togehter with the oppressive humidity and copious precipitation, can make the climate very uncomfortable at times.
The city has different attractions. For example white sandy beaches that are known all over the island. The development of tourism and structural changes in the economy have had a strong impact on Denpasar city. Trade, hotels, and restaurants dominate gross regional domestic product.
