European Spacecraft Lands on Comet
It is not always we can see a spacecraft from Earth landing on some comet or any other celestial body. This week, on November 12 2014 it happened first time in history. Below you can see the picture of comet comparing to the size of the London city.

The European Space Agency's Philae lander on the Rosetta spacecraft reached this comet, Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko and it did not bounce away from its surface. It made a soft landing according to the ESA. The scientists were actually worried about this because they assumed that it could be easy to bounce away from the comet because the gravitational forces are not strong as they are on Earth. They have prepared the lander to be ready to use its harpoons for getting anchored at the surface and on that way prevent the bouncing.
Now when the Philae lander is on the comet we can get some more and probably new information that we need for confirming that the life on our planet Earth has started thanks to the different comets that hit or planet many years ago. The lander can collect data from the 23 centimeter deep and also from the surface which hopefully can give our scientists more details about life and its developing.
