Half Marathon, break and run! As a natural step in running, Half Marathon is a preparation for Marathon. It has a special importance and therefore it is good if we do it carefully.

All experienced runners know that it is important to rest. Some people have better endurance than others but at the end everyone must take a break.


Running shorter distances does not require breaks if we run two or three times per week. If we run every day then it would be smart to take a break. Why is it important to do so? Running can be challenging and hard sometimes and our legs need to rest. Knees and muscles must rest and relax.


A longer run such as Half Marathon is a different story. Especially if it is done for the first time. As a natural step in running, Half Marathon is a preparation for Marathon. It has a special importance and therefore it is good if we do it carefully.


Half Marathon, break and run! Half Marathon can be heavy the first time and we can feel it after 15 kilometers point already.


Long distance runs can hurt our legs and knees and we must understand the need of resting. Running Half Marathon can be heavy the first time and we can feel it after 15 kilometers point already.


Our body can be more exhausted if we do not drink water during the run so we must be smart. It is very important to drink while running but also to take a break after Half Marathon or a similar run because our body must get recovered. For example 5-10 days is an acceptable period especially if our body experiences training soreness.


After the break, run again!
