The first Su-37, converted from the eleventh Su-35, made its maiden flight in April 1996 at Zhukovsky, a city in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located on the Moskva River, 40 kilometers southeast of Moscow.
It was joined by a second prototype in 1998. Throughout the program, the Su-37 publicly demonstrated its attributes at numerous air shows, performing maneuvers impossible to complete with normal flight control methods, among which was a 360° somersault.

Despite its potential advantages, the Su-37 did not enter production.
It has instead remained as a technology demonstrator for updated Su-27 family aircraft such as the export Su-30 and the modernized Su-35.

Sukhoi 20 years in the sky. Smooth movements and elegance on the blue heaven. Stable style in the air and very sharp eye when you meet it in front or on any side of you. Flying easy and gently touching the air, Sukhoi looks very elegant up in the blue sky. When we are talking about the air force we have some examples of good planes. American and Russian planes are some of them. America, or USA has e.g. developed good F-35 airplane. Russia has their Sukhoi plane and this one has something magic, something that creates the right feeling for writing this article. Smooth movements and elegance on the blue heaven. Great colors and very high speed. These are just some of the characteristics that describes this perfect plane. It is engineered by Pavel Sukhoi, and developed at the Sukhoi Company with the headquartered in Begovoy District, Northern Administrative Okrug, Moscow . Looking back in time we can see that the first one plane called Su-2 flew first time in 1937. After that Su-5 flew first time in 1945 and so on. Sukhoi's Su-24, Su-25, Su-27, Su-30, Su-34, Su-35 and ship borne Su-33 aircraft are in service with the Russian Air Force and Navy as well as foreign armies. The Su-25 is the oldest Sukhoi still in production.
