The Seapilot app can be used for navigation and it also has a function that is called "social boating". As the name sounds, this can be used for having a contact and information about your friends on the sea. This app is initialy from Sweden (http://www.trueheading.se/) and it will probably be launched also in USA and it should have very good chances there even though USA is the biggest boat market in the world.
If you like fishing, then there is an app called "Fish-brain" and it uses for sharing the information about fishing. It is possible to use this app in realtime and of course you can share the information in e.g. Facebook.
So why not, if ou have a boat and want to have some fun with the friends around you on the open sea, then use some of these apps!
