Humongous - a movie from 1982. A group of young people on a boat and a negative tension between two persons close to an island.

Almost one year ago, we wrote and published an article about a movie called M3GAN. In that movie we can see that artificial intelligence is a part of our lives. This is not a coincidence but M3GAN is from 2022,which is 40 years after Humongous was produced.

Why did we choose Humongous this time? Well, a good old horror movie is never bad, especially if we can remember it from our childhood. This movie is from 1982 as we mentioned in the subject. Actually this is a slasher movie, which means a kind of horror movies where one ore more killers are stalking and murdering a group of people. Normally the killers use bladed and sharp tools.

What is the difference between a movie from 1982 and a movie 2022, besides the different technologies in creating the movies? You would have to watch the both movies to understand the difference. However, what is Humongous about?

A family, who lives on an island, has arranged a party. The daughter who loves dogs, gets raped by a man from the party. He was someone she knew from before but she avoided him by some reasons. The first scene ends with this brutal attack, but also in blood.

Later on, more exactly 36 years after that party, a group of young people decides to take a boat tour. We can see here some normal daily scenes, very common scenes when jealousy is involved. Also, we can recognize the situation where a negative tension between two persons can affect the whole group.

Now, on the one side we have a group of young people on the boat and on the other side we have an island with its own story. We can easily recommend you to watch Humongous. It is a good movie but it requires some patience. It was created in a period when most of the movies were slower than today.
