I simply do not recognize the city as that old good one where all my friends, my family and me lived together. It is now just a new city where I do not feel welcome and comfortable anymore. I just know that the time that my family and me experienced in Sarajevo never ever will be possible to experience for some new generations. That kind of Sarajevo experience is gone for ever.

Sarajevo the Olympic city: The city is not the Olympic city any more but it is something else, a city with big shopping centers and beggars on the streets. I simply do not recognize the city as that old good one where all my friends, my family and me lived together. During the time of Yugoslavia, Sarajevo reached its top as one of all modern European cities. That is at least my experience since Sarajevo was known as an international Olympic city. The city had the honor to be the Yugoslavian center of the winter Olympic games 1984. The future for this city got a chance to be a light one but it never happened. The city and everything in it was pretty destroyed in the last war. Many people lost their lives and their family members and friends. That tragedy has unfortunately left its tracks on almost everything that we can see nowadays. Today this city is something else. At least, observing from my point of view it has become a black hole, a huge village where we can see a huge number of deviations comparing to some normal functioning society. Many new people have created all those new rules and all other people, those who remained as they were during the time before the last war simply have been forced to accept those new rules. Here are two articles that somehow can describe the rude rules just mentioned Unreliable rent-a-car business and Balkanian tragedy . The religious fanaticism is also one of the popular details in this new Sarajevo. Instead of being proud of the Olympic games that gave Sarajevo a positive status in the world, the new generation of its citizens is proud of Sarajevo as a city influenced by religion. Not everyone but a huge number of people has decided to see religion as something modern and something promising instead of investing in social security, welfare, knowledge, science and development as factors that can lead to success in the modern age. I lived in Sarajevo when it was a multi cultural city in Yugoslavia and today I miss that city because it is not so any more. When I visit it I do not recognize it any more. I recognize the people I know and I see the difference between them and the new generation of the citizens. They simply have to struggle for survive in that new Sarajevo where mostly people with big family connections and contacts come on the first place. The city is not the Olympic city any more but it is something else, a city with big shopping centers and beggars on the streets. The city is loosing its own identity as an European city and that is unfortunately the fact. The history of Sarajevo is also something that is modified in the period of all these years after the last war. People just want to create a new history.
